Fine was a skillful writer and Lessons From My Games shows his concise, clear style at his best. The diversity of the times and some masters, Ahlekine, Gruenfeld, etc. are drawn succinctly and portrayed in a way that may be new to the reader. This is not a collection of his best games though some naturally are found. It is the development of a chess master and is intended to be instructive in this way.
