In this work, the authors have pursued two aims: they wished to keep alive the memory of the great "Fairy King", Thomas Rayner Dawson and at the same time to provide a challenging introduction to "Chess Unlimited"> To this end they have opened with a chapter which is dedicated to Dawson, the man and the promblemist, have added to this a general consideration of the elements of fairy chess, and then in a series of further chapters, have dealt with the most important kinds of fairy chess, not however exclusively with those types which Dawson himself invented, but also other fields in which we owe to him unforgettable compositions. all the selected examples are Dawson's own. His well-known writings, his big collection of problems and his own records, Now housed by C E Kemp, constitute an inexhaustible source of material.
