American International Master (1950) who owned and edited the leading US chess magazine Chess Review (founded by Kashdan) from 1933 to 1969, when Horowitz retired and sold it to Chess Life. He edited the New York Times chess column for 10 years and wrote a number of chess books. He won or was equal 1st in three U S Opens: 1936, 1938 and 1943 and played on four U S Olympiad teams during 1931-50. In 1941 he lost a match to Reshevsky for the U S Championship.

Condition:

Heal corners bumped. Dust jacket spine ends rubbed, some small closed edge tears. A very good in a very good jacket.
