An international chess tournament was held in the Romanian capital of Bucharest. Twenty contestants competed for the third edition of this tournament. Alexander V Tolush was the clear winner with 14 points a full point ahead of Tigran V Petrosian. In third place was Vassily Smyslov at 12.5. fourth through sixth was a tie with future world champion Boris V Spassky, Laszlo Szabo and Isaak Boleslavsky with 12 points. Gedeon Barcza capture sole seventh a half point behind. Eight and ninth was a tie with Stefan Szabo and Alberic O'Kelly de Galway at 11. In tenth was Bogdan Sliwa with 10.5 followed by Victor Ciocaltea and Miroslav Filip tying for twelfth. In fourteenth was Zdravko Milev with a score of 9. fifteenth was Jaroslav Sajtar a half point behind followed by Olaf Barda in descending order Goesta Stoltz and Mihai Radulescu at six, and Octavio Troianescu and Harry Golombek at 5. In last place a full point behind was Emanoil Reicher.
