The Krynica International Chess Tourney attracted fourteen contestants. Borislav Milic who scored scored a 9.5 and one point ahead of his closest rivals, Wolfgang Uhlmann, Stojan Puc and Nikola Karaklajic. In fifth place was Wolfgang Dittmann with a half point less. In sixth was Kazimierz Plater followed by Wiktor Balcarek with 7 points. The other contestants included in finishing in descending order Waclaw Luczynowicz, Sava Vukovic, Jozef Gromek, Tadeusz Gniot, Alfred Tarnowski, Emil Sojka and Isaak Boleslavsky.
James E. Gates collected over 15,000 chess books with a value of over $210,000. He later sold his collection in 1981.
Condition:
Gates' book plate to front wrapper verso. Corners bumped, soiled, spine tape reinforce, pages age toned, closed tear at front heal wrapper, wrapper sunned at edges else a good copy.
