This tournament in 1948 attracted fourteen players from through out Europe. Six contestants from the home country, Italy with Vincenzo Castaldi, Mario Monticelli, Eugenio Szabados, Gino Fletzer, Giuseppe Primavera and Alberto Giustolisi. From Argentina Miguel Najdorf took up the challenge. Gedeon Barcza represented Hungary. The former World champion Max Euwe was the Dutch champion. Esteban Canal represented Peru. Iosef Lokvenc was there from Austria. Savielly Tartakower was now representing France. Henry Grob was the Swiss's choice. Karel Opočensky was the Czech master representing that country. Najdorf was the easy victor scoring 11.5/14 two points ahead of Gedeon Barcza and Esteban Canal. In clear fourth was Max Euwe at 8 followed by the top Italian Vincenzo Castaldi a half point behind.

Condition:

Front inner cracked through and separated with front board loose, corners bumped and rubbed through, some internal notations and cumulative score next the each rounds summation, foxing to page ends, spine gilt dulled else a good copy.
