The book was written, when Soviet championships were becoming one of the strongest and toughest tournaments in the world, so the games are of a very high standard; the author's name speaks for itself also - that is why it was essential to have an English version of the book. Eighteen individuals participated in the tournament, but it was Mikhail Botvinnik who triumphed not loosing a game with a score of 12.5 a full point ahead of second place finisher Alexander Kotov. a close third was Sergey Belavenets a half point behind. Fourth was a two way tie with Vladimir Makogonov and Vitaly Chekhover with 10.5. In sole sixth was Igor Bondarevsky with a score of 10 points.

Condition:
