The 9th Chess Olympiad, organized by the FIDE and comprising an open team tournament,[1] as well as several events designed to promote the game of chess, took place between August 20 and September 11, 1950, in Dubrovnik, PR Croatia, FPR Yugoslavia (present day Croatia). 84 players from 16 nations played a total of 480 games. The acclaimed 1950 Dubrovnik chess set was designed and manufactured specifically for the Olympiad. Yugoslavia capture gold with the team of Svetozar Gligorić, Vasja Pirc, Petar Trifunović, Braslav Rabar, Milan Vidmar, Jr, Stojan Puc with a total score of 45�. Silver was collected by Argentina with a team comprised of Miguel Najdorf, Julio Bolboch�n, Carlos Guimard, H�ctor Rossetto and Hermann Pilnik, two points behind. In a tight race for the bronze was West Germany and the United States, with West German edging out the US by half point for the bronze. The West German team was made up of Wolfgang Unzicker, Lothar Schmid, Gerhard Pfeiffer, Ludwig Rellstab and Hans-Hilmar Staudte. The American team was composed of Samuel Reshevsky, Herman Steiner, Al Horowitz, George Shainswit, George Kramer and the young Larry Evans. Evans won the medal for best second reserve. In descending order the results were: The Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Chile, France, Finland, Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Peru, Norway and Greece.

Some occasional internal notations and check marks else a very good to fine copy of a scarce collection of bulletins, only 5 copies located in the United States by Worldcat.
