The 37th Annual Hoogovens Chess Tournament was a category XII event held in Wijk aan Zee, The Netherlands in 1975. Nine grandmasters and seven masters competed in a round robin format in the prestigious A event. The participants were (in order of ELO): Lajos Portisch (2635), Robert Huebner (2615), Efim Geller (2600), Vlastimil Hort (2600), Jan Smejkal (2600), Svetozar Gligoric (2575), Semyon Furman (2560), Lubomir Kavalek (2555), Walter Shawn Browne (2550), Jan Timman (2510), Jan Hein Donner (2485), Hans Ree (2470), Gennady Sosonko (2470), Luben Popov (2460), Franciscus Kuijpers (2445), and Kick Langeweg (2410). It was a contest to the very end, where in the twelfth round Hort was half point ahead of Portisch. In the thirteenth round Hort lost and Portisch won gaining the lead and maintained it to the end with a score of +10.5 with Hort second at +10. Smejkal was third with +9.5 and half point behind, Kavalek. Tied for fifth through seventh were Gligoric, Hubner and Sosonko with +8.5. Browne, Geller and Timman each with +8 shared eight through tenth. The following contestants were in descending order were Furman, Langeweg, Ree, Donnier, Kuijpers and Popov.

Condition:

Corners gently bumped, spine ends rubbed. Jacket with closed tear at front heal edged, spine ends rubbed whit some small chips else a better than very good copy in a very good jacket.
