After 1970, only seven international tournaments have been played. The 1951, 1954, 1969 and 2001 editions were zonal tournaments. In 1967 the first open tournament was organized. In 1969 it became an annual event. the 1968 competition was an all Argentine event with twelve players in all. Miguel Najordorf scored 8 points, followed by Oscar Panno just a half point behind. Raul Sanguineti was sole third with +7 and Héctor Rossetto a half point behind. Fifth through eighth was Carlos Guimard, Raimundo Garcia, Samuel Schweber, Jorge Rubinetti with plus scores of 5 1/2.
