Description:

viii+437 pages with frontispiece, photographs, diagrams, tables, map, bibliography and index. Small quarto (10 1/4" x 7 1/4") bound in original blue cloth with white lettering to spine and front cover. First edition

This book is primarily directed at chess players, but is useful to psychologists, historians and other groups which will find much material here of interest to them. Just about everyone is interested in human memory and imagery, one way or another. Until 1985 the coauthors worked entirely independently and id not know of each others existence. Then when Hearst had finally decided to begin writing a book on blindfold chess, he learned that Knott had actually finished the first draft of a book-length manuscript on the topic in 1982. Knott and Hearst met in London in 1986 and in the mid 1990s decided to write together.
