This tournament took place in the hall of the YMCA in Buenos Aires between May 5 and 23, 1959. There were twelve participants. Raul Espinosa and Luis Marini tied for first with scores of 7 1/2. Tied for third was Alberto Foguelman and Bernardo Wexler with scores of 7. Foguelman was in the lead until the the ninth round were he lost two rounds in a row, after beating both Espinosa and Marini. Fifth and six places were shared by Jaime Emma and Luis R Piazzini with scores of 6. Seventh was Jorge Pelikan with 5 1/2. Eight was Carlos Incutto with a score of 4 1/2. Tied for ninth was Enrique Reinhardt and Gustavo Bartis with respective scores of 4 each. In the last round Vincente Palermo pulled out a draw with Jorge Pelikan, while Jose M Suarez lost to Alberto Foguelman, to prevent Palermo from being last. They shared the spot for last place with scores of 3 1/2. A match between Luis Marini and Raul Espinosa was conducted to determine the champion. Marini won with a score of 2 1/2 to 1 1/2 to be proclaimed the champion.
