First issued in 1817. Kenny (1788-1867) was an accomplished chess player and teacher, as well as the author, editor, or compiler of numerous instructive books, including this popular manual and its companion, Practical Chess Exercises (1818).

Condition:

Occasional foxing and darkening, new paste downs and end papers. Damp stain to final original blank leaf,(affecting last few text leaves); generally very good.
