Annotated, round-by-round commentary and survey of the openings adopted. First international Tournament held in South Africa and consisted of eight aspirants. Wolfgan Heidenfeld, Willem Jan Muhring, former world champion Max Euwe, V Barata da Cruz, Leon Wilken, Jack Wolpert, M Pines and Bernard Rabinowitz. W Heidenfeld and W J Muhring shared first with 5.5 points of seven. Max Euwe came in a surprising third a half point behind. The final standings were in doubt until the final round. Euwe went all out against his countryman, Muhring, after loosing to Heidenfeld in the previous round. However, the best he was able to obtain was a draw and with Heidenfeld defeating Wilken this remanded Euwe to third. Fourth was V Barata Da Cruz with three points and as shared fifth through sixth was Wilken and Wolper a half point behind. Bringing up shared last was M Pines and B Rabinowitz with scores of 2.

Condition:
